Washington Wolfpack hosts Round Robin Unified Rugby Tournament / Field Day
The Washington Wolfpack will host the Charlottesville Cardinals Univified Rugby Club and the Blackthorn Barbarians Rugby Club for a roundrobin unified rugby tournament and rugby field day. Prior to the beginning of tournament play, we are hosting a field day for new and experienced rugby players to compete in gamified passing, running, kicking, and defensive drills. The field day will be open to any and all players who would like to join in on the fun and we will be inviting Special Olympics athletes from across the DMV to attend.

Inclusive Rugby clinic in partnership with Howard Women's Rugby and Special Olympics - Howard University
The Wolfpack has been invited to lead an inclusive rugby clinic with Howard University's Special Olympics programme and other youth organisations. We will also stay to watch Howard University vs. George Washington women's rugby which will happen immediately following the conclusion of the match.

Washington Wolfpack vs. Blackthorne Barbarians
Attention friends and family! The Wolfpack will be travelling north to Philly for a rematch with our friends at Blackthorn Barbarians-! This is the second edition of the home and away series of the Pioneer Cup - we're looking forward to celebrating disability-inclusive rugby and playing a great match!
1st Annual Unified Rugby Field Day and Pioneer Cup
The Washington Wolfpack and Blackthorn Barbarians, the nation’s first Unified/Mixed Ability Rugby clubs, are inviting players, families, and rugby fans from far and wide to the 1st Annual Unified Rugby Field Day and Pioneer Cup on June 5th, 2022 in Washington DC. This celebration of rugby is inclusive of players and people of all abilities and skill levels who want to learn about unified rugby and the growing community of players and clubs around the country.
Among the many fun activities that will take place during this historic meeting, the main event at the end of the program is the Pioneer Cup Challenge, the first competitive touch rugby match in the history of rugby in the US to take place between two mixed ability teams. The day will begin with a joint practice and skills competition, during which new and experienced players will be able to test their power, speed, and accuracy in a series of fun, rugby-based games and drills. All mixed ability rugby players who are interested in taking part in these competitions may do so, regardless of whether they participate in the Pioneer Cup Match.
*** PLAYER REQUIREMENTS***
All players who want to participate in rugby activities must be medically cleared to do so. Players must wear athletic gear to participate.
*** PARKING AND REFRESHMENTS ***
Parking for the field is located at 1540 Maine Ave SW, Washington, DC 20024, which is a block Southwest of the actual pitch and sits on the edge of the Tidal Basin. Search for "National Mall Parking" in Google Maps and this should pop up. Water and snacks at the event will be provided by the Washington Wolfpack.
*** SOCIAL***
It is rugby tradition for the home team to host a gathering - or social - for players and coaches from both teams to come together and enjoy eachother's company. Our friends at StreetCar 82 Brewing will be hosting the social after our event ends at 3:00 PM. The address is 4824 Rhode Island Ave, Hyattsville, MD 20781.

The Washington Wolfpack and Blackthorn Barbarians are committed to guaranteeing the safety of our players, coaches, and supporters. We encourage all of our participants to test themselves prior to the event. If you test positive for COVID-19 or are displaying any symptoms (cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat, and others), we ask that you stay home to heal. There will be other opportunities to join us on the pitch! We will also require masks for participants who are not actively engaged in event activities and courage athletes to wear masks during physical activity if they choose.

In a first-of-its-kind partnership, the DC Wolfpack is thrilled to partner with Special Olympics Virginia for an “intro to unified rugby” clinic.
There will be three “sessions” of approx. 1 hour each.
Special thanks to Old Glory, DC’s professional rugby team, who will be sending out a couple of their elite players!
DC Unified Rugby Workshop
The Washington Wolfpack Rugby Football Club and Trust Rugby International invite you to attend our educational workshop to learn about one of the fastest-growing unified sports in the world – unified rugby! Similar to other unified sports, Unified Rugby is a slightly adapted version of the game that allows for players with and without disabilities to play side-by-side. This event is free to all registered attendees.
